Years ago, I started painting to have something to put on the walls of our new home. I had previously looked at pieces at various retail stores but being a teacher, found they were out of my budget. I painted as a child, so I thought why not give it a go again? I was drawn to pieces abstract in nature, with bright colors. I found inspiration from Pollock and Kandinsky. After a few months, I had created enough pieces to add pops of color to my walls. Being a teacher with a terminally ill husband, the paint got tucked away in the garage and I went about my life. It wasn’t until I discovered acrylic pouring that the paint got dragged out and the garage became a studio. I fell in love with the process, the possibilities seemed endless! I poured almost every weekend, for hours at a time. When I wasn’t painting I was watching YouTube videos, learning new techniques. Living in Florida, as the weather got warmer, I moved inside. I decided rather than work at the kitchen table that I would create a studio in a spare bedroom. It quickly became my favorite room in the house. My walls are now covered with the products of my pours, I look at them as I walk by and I grin. Then I think, what should I pour next?
